Hello, I am Emma

A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a short-term assignment gradually opened a new chapter abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Canada wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something larger.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Phase
There was cultural adjustment, unease, and plenty of learning by doing. Over time, routines settled in. We found spots that suited us, met other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Rift Valley Studio
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site IS:

Moving Forward
Our stay in Canada continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we find.
